Burkina Faso (formerly the Republic of Upper Volta) is located in Western African, bordered by
Ivory Coast,
Mali,
Niger,
Benin,
Togo and
Ghana.
The terrain of the country is mainly flat, with undulating plains, and hills in the west and southeast.
Tena Kourou is the country's highest point at 749 meters above sea level.
Main rivers are the Black Volta, Red Volta and White Volta.
The capital city is
Ouagadougou. Other important cities are Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora, Boromo and Djibo.
