Togo lies in Western Africa, on the Bight of Benin between
Ghana and
Benin.
Togo is a long, narrow country which extends through a number of different geographic regions.
The terrain consists of low coastal plain, plateau in the south, central hills, and savanna in the north. Rivers include the Mono and the Oti.
The country consists primarily of two savanna plains regions separated by a southwest-northwest range of hills, the
Togo Mountains.
In the south lie low-lying sandy beaches. Further north lies the Ouatchi Plateau.
North of the Togo Mountains lies a sandstone plateau through which the Oti River flows.
The capital city is
Lomé.
Highest point is
Mount Agou rising 988 meters above sea level.
