Information about the geography of Northwestern United States
Northwestern United States is a region of the United states, often referred to simply as the Northwest, being located in the northwestern corner of the country, on the Pacific coast, just south of the Canadian border.
The region comprises of the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.
The main geographical features of the Northwest are the ranges of the Rocky Mountains, which are sliced by the basins, valleys and plateaus of the major rivers of the regions, namely the Snake River Plain, Columbia Plateau, Wyoming Basin, Missouri Plateau, to name a few. The Cascade Range and Coast Range are mountain ranges that run parallel to the Pacific coast on the western side of the region.
