Indiana is located in the east central region of the
United States, lying between the
Great Lakes and the
Appalachian Mountains.
Indiana borders the other US states of
Michigan on the north,
Ohio on the east,
Illinois on the west and
Kentucky on the south.
Major rivers in Indiana are the
Wabash that empties into the
Ohio - that forms the southern border of the state - at the southwestern corner of Indiana,
the
White River and
East Fork White River, and the
Maumee, which runs back to Ohio.
The state is generally flat, the highest point of the state is only 383 meters high, near the border with
Ohio.
Indianapolis is the capital, other major cities in Indiana are Evansville, Gary, South Bend and Fort Wayne.
