Saarland is a state of
Germany in the south-western corner of the country, sharing borders with the other German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, international borders with
France and
Luxembourg.
The major rivers flowing through the state are the
Saar and the
Mosel on the western border. Other important rivers include the Prims and the Blies.
The highest elevation is the
Dollberg lying in the
Hunsrück by the northern part of Saarland at 695 meters above sea level.
The capital and largest city is
Saarbrücken. Other major cities in Saarland are Völklingen, Homburg, Neunkirchen, Saarlouis, Marzig, St. Wendel and St. Ingbert.
