Information about the geography of Southeastern United States
Southeastern United States is a region of the United states, often referred to simply as the Southeast, that can be located in the southeastern parts of the country, on the Atlantic coast, north of the Gulf of Mexico.
The region comprises of the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.
The region can be divided into four major geographical sections. The coastal plains along the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, the Appalachian ranges, the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, the Ozark Plateau and the surrounding plateaus, hilly parts.
