Baden-Württemberg is a state of the Federal Republic of
Germany in the southwestern part of the country, sharing international borders with
Switzerland and the
France.
The state also borders the other German states of
Bavaria, Hesse, and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The major river flowing through the state is the
Rhine and the
Danube, the largest lake is
Lake Constance on the Swiss border.
Highest point is the
Feldberg in the
Black Forest (Schwarzwald) at 1493 meters above sea level.
The capital is
Stuttgart. Other major cities in Baden-Württemberg are Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Heidelberg and Ulm.
