Arafura sea is a shallow sea connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, also separating the continents of Australia and Asia. It lies north of the Gulf of Carpentaria, between the islands of New Guinea and Australia. Arafura Sea is connected to the Coral sea by the Torres Strait. The average depth of the Arafura sea is only around 50 m, the deepest part hardly reaches 200 meters (660 feet).
