Denali is the highest peak of North America and the United States. Being located in Alaska, it reaches a height of 6194 meters, equivalent to 20,316 feet above sea level.
The peak is found within the Alaska Range that lies in a crescent shape in the southern region of Alaska. The surrounding area is a protected area since 1917, named after the peak Denali National Park.
The mountain was names as Mount McKinley between 1896 and 2015, when it was renamed to its original name Denali uon President Barack Obama's visit to Alaska.
The peak was first conquered in 1913 by a group of climbers led by Hudson Stuck. The first women to reach the top was Barbara Washburn in 1947.
