Rhineland-Palatinate is a state of
Germany in the south-western corner of the country, sharing borders with the other German states of
Saarland,
Hesse,
Baden-Württemberg,
North Rhine-Westphalia, and international borders with
France,
Belgium and
Luxembourg.
The major rivers flowing through the state are the
Rhine and the
Mosel and the Lahn.
The highest elevation is the
Erbeskopf lying in the
Hunsrück at 818 meters above sea level.
The capital and largest city is
Mainz. Other major cities in Rhineland-Palatinate are Koblenz, Trier, Kaiserslautern, Mannheim, Worms and Bad Kreuznach.
