Hesse is a state of Germany in the western-central part of the country, sharing borders with the other German states of
North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Thuringia, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The major river flowing through the state is the Rhine and the Main.
Highest point is the Wasserkuppe in the eastern region at 950 meters above sea level.
The capital is Wiesbaden, the largest city and economic centre is Frankfurt am Main. Other major cities in Hesse are Offenbach, Darmstadt, Fulda, Limburg, Marburg and Kassel.
