Georgia lies mostly in the
Caucasus Mountains, and its northern boundary is partly defined by the Greater Caucasus range.
Two-thirds of Georgia is mountainous. There are lowlands, and a coastal region along the
Black Sea.
The highest mountain in Georgia is
Mount Shkhara at 5201 meters (peak is not in Georgia). Other prominent peaks include Kazbeg at 5048 meters.
The main rivers are the Mtkvari (Kura), Alazani, Iori, Rioni, Enguri, and the Khrami.
Tbilisi is the capital city. Other major cities include Kutaisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Chiatura, Gori, Zugdidi and Tskhinvali. Major ports are Batumi, Poti and Sokhumi.
